Job Summary
The Unit Clerk performs a variety of clerical tasks, supportive functions for patient and staff, and the Department. The incumbent ensures the care and comfort of patients as well as routine cleanliness of the clinical environment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clerical tasks, including data entry and record-keeping
- Provide supportive functions for patients and staff, including answering phones and responding to inquiries
- Ensure the care and comfort of patients, including providing emotional support and assistance with daily tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, including disposing of waste and restocking supplies
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Unit Clerk course or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as pushing carts with patient charts
- Satisfactory employment record
- Ability to legally work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an ambulatory clinic and/or in-patient care setting
