Job Summary:The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Head, Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics. This is a senior leadership role that requires a strong academic background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in a clinical or academic setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic leadership to the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, aligning with the Faculty of Medicine's goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement departmental plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality education, research, and clinical services.
- Lead and manage a team of faculty members, staff, and students, fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and collaboration.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including health sector leaders, academic partners, and industry partners.
- Ensure the department's research and education programs are aligned with the University's strategic priorities and goals.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
- Represent the department and the Faculty of Medicine at local, national, and international levels, promoting the University's reputation and interests.
- Eligibility for licensure in BC to practice anesthesiology.
- Proven track record of success in senior leadership roles within a clinical or academic setting.
- Strong academic background, with a focus on Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
- Strong financial management skills, with the ability to manage departmental budgets.
- Experience in team building, fostering engagement, and promoting inclusivity across working and learning environments.
- Experience in working with health sector leadership to enable integration of teaching and research into clinical service delivery and Health Human Resource Planning.
- Experience in academic and professional affairs, with a focus on Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
