Job Summary:

Talize is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Merchandise Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our retail warehouse team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient processing and organization of merchandise.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough quality inspections of received merchandise to ensure it meets company standards, identifying any defects or damage.
  • Properly dispose of unsellable merchandise and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Sort and categorize items into designated bins for re-routing, ensuring accurate vendor codes and labeling.
  • Hang approved garments on the correct hangers and organize them on designated lines.
  • Grade items according to established guidelines to determine pricing and attach corresponding price tags.
  • Organize tagged items onto rolling racks, categorizing by size, color, and category.
  • Health and Safety:
    • Maintain a safe and clean workspace, adhering to company housekeeping standards.
    • Take necessary precautions to prevent external and internal theft, following company guidelines.
    • Identify and report any hazards to management and the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
    • Report employee or customer accidents to management immediately.
    • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) during tasks and practice safe lifting and handling of merchandise.
  • Other Duties:
    • Roll racks onto the retail floor to replenish stock, providing excellent customer service and maintaining store appearance.
    • Assist in ragging out color tags to make space for new stock and participate in floor changes and back-stock programs.
    • Support management in preparing and executing sale days and perform additional job-related duties as requested.
  • Requirements:
    • 1+ year of experience working in a retail warehouse environment.
    • Previous work in a thrift retail environment is considered an asset.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Concentration: Ability to accurately perform repetitive work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining department goals.
    • Attention to Detail: Double-check work to provide consistent performance.
    • Merchandise Knowledge: Ability to identify brands to effectively grade merchandise.
    • Communication Skills: Interact effectively and professionally with team members and customers.
    • Collaboration: Work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
    • Constant bending, reaching, and using hands for repetitive actions.
    • Lifting and carrying items up to 50lbs without assistance throughout the shift.
    • Pushing and pulling merchandise containers on wheels weighing up to 500lbs.
  • Work Environment:
    • Exposure to dust throughout the designated shift.
    • Exposure to periodic temperature fluctuations and noise levels.
    • Work schedule hours will include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Interaction with customers, clients, and the public at large.
