Job Description

The Family Centre is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Youth Connector. This role requires a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with families and stakeholders, as well as exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills.

About the Role

The Youth Connector will work directly with youth who are receiving services from Children's Services. The goal of this service is to support the development of lifelong connections for these young individuals, which can help reduce the negative impacts of trauma.

  • Develop therapeutic relationships with youth to increase positive experiences and diminish negative impacts of trauma.
  • Support the development of a support network that enriches relationships, attachment, stability, and belonging for the youth.
  • Encourage interdependence and community integration through the development of life skills necessary for education, occupation, finances, communication, conflict resolution, housing, community resources, recreation, and hobbies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Expand the youth's circle of support and reignite pre-existing relationships by identifying and pursuing individual and community networks using family-finding methods.
  • Assess ongoing risk for youth and safety plan accordingly within the Signs of Safety Framework.
  • Support Indigenous youth in connecting with their culture and following protocol when participating in ceremony with them.
  • Use a Trauma-Informed Care approach to support youth in exploring and understanding how their past experiences have impacted them.
  • Successfully transition youth out of Children's Services involvement by implementing strategies to achieve goals outlined in the Transition to Independence Plan.
What We're Looking For

We are seeking an individual with a degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field, with experience working with youth and families. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.
