Enrolment Services Officer

As an Enrolment Services Officer, you will provide exceptional support to prospective and current students, parents/sponsors, faculty, and internal staff. Your primary function will be to respond to and resolve student inquiries and requests in a timely and courteous manner.
Key Duties- Provide detailed information on program, policy, application, admissions, transfer credit, registration, and general advising to students and staff.
- Assess and resolve the needs of incoming prospective and current students, empowering them to make informed decisions.
- Develop and implement student service, information, admissions, registration, and general advising activities.
- Coordinate with other staff to ensure follow-up tasks are completed, ensuring seamless student support.
- Research learning pathways and opportunities, assisting students with application, admission, and course registration processes.
- Represent Thompson Rivers University at promotional events, promoting the university's programs and services.
- Contribute to process and systems improvements, providing feedback and suggestions for enhancement.
- Train new staff members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure a smooth transition.
- Participate in proactive outreach efforts, including outbound calls and emails to prospective students, applicants, and current students.
- Create individual and group goals, participating in assessment, development, and improvement activities.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- 3 years' related experience, including 1 year in a dedicated student or customer service setting.
- Experience in a post-secondary environment, preferably in student recruitment, student or enrolment services, marketing, admissions, and/or advising.
You will possess:
- Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with staff, students, and members of the general public.
- Effective judgement in resolving student/customer issues and interpreting related procedure and policy.
- Ability to use customer relationship management and student/client information system software and tools.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to show empathy in difficult customer situations.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization.
- Knowledge of TRU programs and courses.
- Ability to be diplomatic and persuasive in dealing with others.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
This role requires:
- Sitting or standing at a desk/computer for long periods, providing over-the-counter service in person or via phone and electronic communication.
- General office conditions.
- Ability to lift weights in excess of 10kg.
