Key Responsibilities

As an Enrolment Services Officer, you will provide exceptional support to prospective and current students, parents/sponsors, faculty, and internal staff. Your primary function will be to respond to and resolve student inquiries and requests in a timely and courteous manner.

Key Duties
  1. Provide detailed information on program, policy, application, admissions, transfer credit, registration, and general advising to students and staff.
  2. Assess and resolve the needs of incoming prospective and current students, empowering them to make informed decisions.
  3. Develop and implement student service, information, admissions, registration, and general advising activities.
  4. Coordinate with other staff to ensure follow-up tasks are completed, ensuring seamless student support.
  5. Research learning pathways and opportunities, assisting students with application, admission, and course registration processes.
  6. Represent Thompson Rivers University at promotional events, promoting the university's programs and services.
  7. Contribute to process and systems improvements, providing feedback and suggestions for enhancement.
  8. Train new staff members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure a smooth transition.
  9. Participate in proactive outreach efforts, including outbound calls and emails to prospective students, applicants, and current students.
  10. Create individual and group goals, participating in assessment, development, and improvement activities.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 3 years' related experience, including 1 year in a dedicated student or customer service setting.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment, preferably in student recruitment, student or enrolment services, marketing, admissions, and/or advising.
Skills and Abilities

You will possess:

  • Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with staff, students, and members of the general public.
  • Effective judgement in resolving student/customer issues and interpreting related procedure and policy.
  • Ability to use customer relationship management and student/client information system software and tools.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to show empathy in difficult customer situations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Knowledge of TRU programs and courses.
  • Ability to be diplomatic and persuasive in dealing with others.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Working Conditions

This role requires:

  • Sitting or standing at a desk/computer for long periods, providing over-the-counter service in person or via phone and electronic communication.
  • General office conditions.
  • Ability to lift weights in excess of 10kg.
