About the Role

We are seeking an Apprentice Tile Setter to join our team at JY Shinwoo Construction Ltd. as part of our ongoing efforts to deliver high-quality construction services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowels to ensure a strong bond between tiles and the base.
  • Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to the base, ensuring a level and even surface.
  • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools, minimizing waste and ensuring a seamless finish.
  • Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles, maintaining the integrity of the installation.
  • Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs, requiring attention to detail and creativity.
  • Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite, working with high-quality materials and adhering to industry standards.
  • Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces, requiring a strong understanding of materials and techniques.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy loads and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working on-site, the successful candidate will be required to handle heavy loads and work in a variety of conditions.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience in tile setting or a related field is an asset, but not required.
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is the minimum educational requirement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Workplace Information
  • The role is a permanent position, with a regular schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week.
  • The language of work is English, and the successful candidate will be required to communicate effectively in this language.
