Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for driving the long-term success and sustainable growth of Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation. The CEO provides visionary leadership to enhance the value of the corporation, ensuring a positive impact on the Tkemlúps te Secwépemc economy and future generations.
Key Responsibilities:- Set the vision, mission, values, short and long-term strategic plans, and annual business plan.
- Provide leadership to the organization to advance the vision, mission, and mandate of the organization.
- Lead the growth of the corporation in a profitable and sustainable manner through appropriate management of human resources, capitalizing on assets, and innovation.
- Provide leadership to a diverse team that fosters a workplace culture focused on professionalism, integrity, commitment, respect, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Identify, develop, and mentor future leaders within the organization.
- Maintain open and effective communication with the Board of Directors.
- Assist the Board in complying with their fiduciary responsibilities and obligations.
- Ensure that an effective senior management team is in place and that effective succession plans are established.
- Collaborate with the Board and staff to develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy that positions Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation for long-term success.
- Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate corporate strategic plans to maximize shareholder value.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards strategic objectives and identify areas for improvement.
- Establish operational excellence by setting quality and profit improvement goals to drive continuous improvement and maximize performance.
- Create robust financial plans and strategies to safeguard the company's long-term viability.
- Review and analyze financial performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Establish and maintain robust risk management systems to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to the company's operations.
- Foster a culture of safety excellence with execution and accountability for all safety activities.
- Ensure that health and safety initiatives are integrated into the company's overall strategic goals and objectives, ensuring that safety is a core component of all projects and operations.
- Promote a strong commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Provide value as a contributing corporate citizen to the communities in which Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation operates.
- Communicate the corporation's value to shareholders, demonstrating how it fulfills its vision, mission, and values.
- Build on Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation's mission of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ensuring these pillars are reflected in the organization's work.
- Required:
- Baccalaureate degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years' experience as a CEO and/or Executive level position, leading a complex organization, ideally in the resource sector (e.g., mining, forestry, or construction services).
- Preferred:
- MBA in Business or related program.
- Experience leading large organizational, operational, or systems change initiatives.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate: Kamloops, BC V2H 1H1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
