About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic - Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to join our team at First Student Canada. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our school buses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Inspection and Repair: Conduct thorough inspections of school buses to identify and repair any issues, ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Diagnostic and Repair Skills: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with school buses, including brakes, engines, suspensions, and transmissions.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections to prevent breakdowns and ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Work Order Management: Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently, maintaining records of all maintenance work completed, including parts and supplies used.
  • Team Leadership: Lead road calls and emergency services as necessary, and provide guidance and support to junior mechanics.
Requirements
  • 310T Mechanic License: Must have a valid 310T Mechanic license.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license required.
  • Tool Set: Must have an appropriate mechanic's tool set.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Advanced problem-solving ability and analytical skills.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills, including ability to use diagnostic software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
