Chief Internal Auditor and Risk Management Specialist

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Internal Audit and Compliance to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our internal audit plan, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of our governance, risk management, and control processes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit plan that aligns with the University's strategic objectives and risk management framework.
- Lead the internal audit team in conducting risk-based audits, providing assurance on the effectiveness of our governance, risk management, and control processes.
- Provide recommendations to the Audit Committee and senior management on areas for improvement and implementation of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the integration of internal audit findings and recommendations into our risk management and control processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Audit Committee, senior management, and external auditors.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of leading internal audit teams and developing effective internal audit plans.
- Strong knowledge of governance, risk management, and control processes, as well as audit standards and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, the Audit Committee, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to travel between campuses, with a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (or willingness to use public transportation).
