Position Overview: Director of Internal Audit at Kwantlen Polytechnic University
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is in search of a seasoned professional to assume the role of Director of Internal Audit. This pivotal position is responsible for delivering impartial assurance audit services to the Board of Governors and the Chief Financial Officer's office. The selected candidate will spearhead the Internal Audit division, develop risk-oriented audit strategies, and ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures. The Director will be instrumental in establishing the department while meeting the institution's obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Internal Audit team and manage audit activities
- Formulate and implement risk-based audit plans
- Oversee compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements
- Engage with governance boards and committees
Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years in finance, with at least five years in a leadership role within an audit context
- A relevant university degree
- Professional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA) in good standing
- Experience in the higher education sector and familiarity with unionized environments are advantageous
Desired Skills:
- Exceptional communication abilities
- Proficient in audit methodologies, risk assessment, and compliance in the public sector
