About This Role

We are seeking an experienced Director, iGaming Policy to lead the development of Alberta's iGaming policy. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert policy advice to senior and executive leadership, the Deputy Ministry, and Minister on matters related to the legislative and policy frameworks for online gambling (iGaming) in Alberta.

Responsibilities
  • Guide the development of iGaming policies that align with the government's vision, ensuring they meet the needs of both the industry and the public.
  • Oversee revenue modeling, the development of key regulatory frameworks, and legislative processes that have a direct impact on Alberta's economy and residents.
  • Provide senior government officials with critical analysis and briefing materials, enabling informed decisions on complex issues.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Requirements

  • Employ creativity, political acumen, and innovative approaches to address complex and diverse policy challenges.
  • Navigate conflicts arising from potentially unpopular decisions with diplomacy and excellent judgment.
  • Balance the ministry and government's relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring sensitivities are effectively managed.
  • Use your strong leadership skills to influence decisions, directions, and approaches at senior levels across organizations.
  • Quickly adapt to shifting priorities and remain comfortable working in ambiguity.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a University graduation in Public Policy or Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Law or a related field, supplemented by seven years progressively responsible related experience in policy analysis and development. Master's degree is preferred. Experience working in a public service setting or complex business environment is an asset.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is approximately $$4,274.26 to $5,427.68 bi-weekly ($111,558 - $141,662 /year), depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
