About the Role:

Manitoulin Transport is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Garage Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of our trucking fleet in the Quebec region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient repair and maintenance of our vehicles, while also managing budgets, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and enforcing safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of mechanics and ensure the timely and efficient repair and maintenance of our trucking fleet.
  • Manage budgets and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize vehicle performance.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to minimize downtime and support the company's transportation operations.
  • Delegate and direct service tasks, monitor progress, and manage the service team to ensure objectives and goals are met.
  • Audit vendor invoices and ensure job estimates are accurate, and warranty or goodwill requirements are fulfilled.
  • Work closely with staff to evaluate productivity and efficiency, and monitor issues and complaints to create methods to lessen recurring issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, dealers, and 3rd party vendors.
  • Help train new employees in company procedures and maintain a strong working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws.
  • Work closely with local and remote operation teams, scheduling equipment for service and repairs, and provide guidance and approval to the maintenance team and Afterhours Breakdown Coordinators.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a Fleet environment with management experience.
  • Heavy Truck and Coach mechanic license (310T) preferred or College Degree in Business with heavy truck mechanical working knowledge.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including word and excel.
  • P&L and budget responsibility.
  • Strong industry knowledge.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving.
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
  • Must be bilingual in English/French.
  • The ability to travel.
