About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapy Resident reports to the Rehabilitation Services Manager and assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.

Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests, and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

This role provides supervision of physiotherapy assistants and requires collaboration with other health disciplines to determine team goals and objectives, participate in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solve problems and share responsibilities.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • WHMIS training and certification
  • Additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours and Compensation
  • Full-time Long Assignment, 100% FTE; 75 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Shifts include days and some weekends
  • Travel to various sites may be required

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $33.97, along with access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
