Job Summary

GQR, an oncology biotech company based in Vancouver, BC, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled leader in antibody discovery with a proven track record of successful campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee therapeutic antibody discovery programs as the scientific lead
  • Direct the workflow of antibody programs from initiation to candidate selection
  • Contribute to project management, planning, and resource allocation
  • Supervise and train bench scientists, providing support with experimental design, data analysis, and work prioritization
  • Participate in target selection and contribute to campaign design
  • Promote platform innovation through intellectual contributions
  • Prepare and present data presentations and reports
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams and liaise with CROs to efficiently deliver programs
  • Foster a learning environment, open to suggestions and embracing the ideas of others

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry setting
  • Industry experience leading antibody discovery campaigns and characterization is essential
  • Experience supervising bench scientists is also essential

Skill Set

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience in therapeutic antibody discovery, engineering, and optimization
  • Experience working with various targets and antibody discovery platforms
  • Experience in high-throughput characterization of antibodies, including flow cytometry, affinity measurement, and developability assays, with data analysis to aid lead candidate selection
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating teams to achieve critical milestones
  • Proficiency in Benchling and Spotfire is a plus

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is estimated to be between CAD $120,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience. GQR offers competitive benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development in the field of antibody discovery.
