Director of Development

The American Red Cross is seeking a Director of Development to support the Missouri/Arkansas Region.
About the Role:This is a hybrid role requiring a strong presence in the St Louis area and occasional travel to the office and donor meetings.
Key Responsibilities:- Partner with the Chief Development Officer to lead a team of professional fundraisers in strengthening and growing the region's donor base to meet its assigned financial target of more than $10M.
- Provide leadership to the staff and volunteers in planning, managing, and implementing fundraising development strategies for the assigned segment(s) of giving.
- Cultivate donors and sponsors to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets while maintaining their own portfolios.
- Manage an assigned team including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and managing performance.
- Drive innovative corporate fundraising strategies across the region, elevating donor engagement and maximizing revenue growth while diversifying the donor base.
- Build and grow high-impact corporate partnerships, personally cultivating and managing a portfolio of major corporate donors.
- Accelerate revenue growth and corporate engagement, championing the development and execution of a robust growth plan targeting donors at the $5,000+ level.
- Forge powerful new partnerships, leading joint visits with donors and partners, and collaborating with regional and national colleagues to unlock new fundraising opportunities.
- Champion strategic fundraising campaigns, partnering closely with the Chief Development Officer to execute cross-segment strategies and campaigns.
- Lead, empower, and inspire a high-performing team, providing visionary leadership and driving transformational change to elevate both individual and team performance.
- Lead critical disaster relief fundraising, crafting and executing innovative disaster relief fundraising strategies that rapidly respond to emerging needs and amplify donor impact.
- Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 7 years of sales/fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
- Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad-based fundraising programs, and knowledge of 'best practices' in development.
- An advanced degree is highly desirable.
- A current valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.
- 5 years of management experience required (Management experience cannot be substituted).
- Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
- Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce).
- Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
- Requires frequent travel within the Region. The amount will vary depending upon size and geography of region. Occasional travel within the Division may be required.
Significant expertise with St Louis funding community, highly desirable.
