We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Health, Safety and Training Specialist to join our team in Edmonton or Calgary. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy excellent work-life balance with a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
About the RoleAs a Senior Health, Safety and Training Specialist, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and training systems, standards, procedures, and guidelines. You will be responsible for coordinating the planning and implementation of Horizon North department programs at remote facilities.
Responsibilities- Maintain, communicate, and assist in the development and facilitation of site Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and table-top drills.
- Facilitate, maintain, train, and distribute various Horizon North HSE Toolbox resources, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA), and Behavior Based Observation (BBO).
- Conduct and/or be directly involved in incident investigations, as required depending on their severity.
- Maintain Food Safe standards daily through Audits and inspections.
- Safety Training and Competency assessments.
- New Hire Orientation.
- Liaise closely with clients, management, staff, contractors, vendors, and other personnel to ensure that Horizon North's HSE mandates, safety culture, and vision are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure that any safety concerns are immediately raised with the HSE Manager.
- Remain conversant with local, provincial, and federal OH&S codes, regulations, and laws, and update staff accordingly.
- Liaise closely with the HSE Manager, Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) Claims Coordinator, and Horizon North's extended HSE team.

- A competitive salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.

- Three years' experience in a safety-related field.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation or equivalent will be considered an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all federal and provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) rules.
- Direct experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to address identified needs, and delivering relevant training based on needs assessment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
