Job Summary:
Mohawk College is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and wellness programs to foster a psychologically safe environment for employees.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and administer wellness programs to promote employee mental health and well-being.
- Conduct internal health and safety audits and employee surveys to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance, education, and training on health, safety, and wellness issues to employees and leaders.
- Manage the ergonomic safety program and develop strategies to optimize employee physical health.
- Collaborate with the HS&W Team to develop best practice guidelines and provide advice on health and safety matters.
- Create quarterly and annual reports outlining leading and lagging indicators, including EAP utilization metrics.
- A minimum of 4-year degree in Allied Health with a specialization in mental health.
- Five years of progressive experience in Health and Safety, Wellness, and Psychological Safety.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse teams and internal clients to identify needs and design solutions.
- Knowledge of the Psychological Safety in the Workplace Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standard Z1003-13.
- Certification in Psychological Safety/Workplace Mental Health would be considered an asset.
- Experience working in a unionized environment with Joint H&S Committees and Wellness Committees.
