Job Title: Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist

Mohawk College is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Health, Safety, and Wellness team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and wellness programs that promote a healthy and safe work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement wellness programs that promote employee well-being and reduce stress and burnout.
  • Conduct internal health and safety audits and employee surveys to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance, education, and training on health, safety, and wellness issues to employees and leaders.
  • Manage the ergonomic safety program and develop and update training materials on various areas of wellness.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement key deliverables to drive employee well-being.
  • Plan and organize health promotion activities to engage employees in healthy behaviors.
  • Develop and implement metrics to monitor the performance of programs relative to their goals and the College's strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 4-year degree in Allied Health with a specialization in mental health.
  • Five years of progressive experience in Health and Safety, Wellness, and Psychological Safety.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse teams and internal clients to identify needs and designing and delivering solutions.
  • Knowledge of the Psychological Safety in the Workplace Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standard Z1003-13.
  • Experience in developing and implementing an Ergonomic Safety Program, including training, tools, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with Joint H&S Committees and Wellness Committees.
