About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the pre and post-analytical phases of testing in our laboratory.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Specimen procurement, receipt, and processing
  • Data entry and media preparation
  • Supply management and troubleshooting
  • Providing excellent customer service and interacting with various stakeholders

You will work collaboratively with our team to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of specimens, and provide support to our laboratory staff as needed.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Ability to accurately number and label specimens and file slides/requisitions
  • Ability to adapt to updates and changes in operating procedures
  • Basic computer skills, with Meditech experience preferred
