About the Role
The Regional Municipality of York is seeking a highly skilled Hydrogeologist to join our team. As a key member of our Source Water Protection team, you will be responsible for protecting the quality and quantity of drinking water sources in our region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical studies and strategies to identify vulnerable areas and drinking water threats.
- Develop policies related to the protection of drinking water sources in consultation with other Regional staff and external Source Protection Committees.
- Provide hydrogeological expertise and support to all aspects of Planning, including Official Plan amendments and dewatering plan review.
- Develop and/or enhance existing groundwater quantity and quality monitoring programs.
- Appear as an expert witness at Ontario Municipal Board and Environmental Review Tribunal hearings.
Requirements
- University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer.
- Successful completion of provincial certifications for Risk Management Inspector and Section 88 Property Entry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts, By-Laws, Regulations, and guidelines related to water.
