About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrogeologist to join our team in the Source Water Protection department. As a Hydrogeologist, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to ensure the protection of our drinking water sources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical studies and strategies to identify vulnerable areas and drinking water threats.
- Develop policies and guidelines related to the protection of drinking water sources.
- Support the Risk Management Official in conducting risk assessments and inspections.
- Provide hydrogeological expertise and support to all aspects of planning, including Official Plan amendments and municipal plan review.
- Develop and enhance existing groundwater quantity and quality monitoring programs.
- Appear as an expert witness at Ontario Municipal Board and Environmental Review Tribunal hearings.
Requirements
- University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer.
- Successful completion of provincial certifications for Risk Management Inspector and Section 88 Property Entry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts, By-Laws, Regulations, and guidelines.
- Working knowledge of best management practices, industrial environmental management systems, and responsible care and pollution prevention programs.
