About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced hydrogeologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing source water protection, performing risk management inspections, and leading programs to protect drinking water sources. This is a challenging and rewarding role, requiring strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical studies and strategies to identify vulnerable areas and drinking water threats
- Develop and implement policies related to source water protection
- Provide hydrogeological expertise and support to all aspects of planning, including official plan amendments and municipal plan review
- Develop and enhance existing groundwater quantity and quality monitoring programs
- Appear as an expert witness at Ontario Municipal Board and Environmental Review Tribunal hearings
Requirements
- University degree in environmental science, engineering, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer
- Successful completion of provincial certifications for Risk Management Inspector and Section 88 Property Entry
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant standards, acts, and regulations related to water and environmental protection
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
