Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Professional to join our team at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam. As a Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to patients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, providing support and care in accordance with established care plans.
  • Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with oral hygiene and toileting needs.
  • Perform nursing care functions, such as monitoring patient progress and reporting significant observations to the Registered Nurse or designate.
  • Respond to call bells and alarms, and assist with emergent situations as needed.

Requirements

  • Grade 10 or equivalent, with a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, and physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, and other related reports.
