About the Role:

In this Senior Accountant position, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of Canadian-Controlled Private Corporations (CCPCs), from industries like healthcare, real estate construction, and small manufacturing. Your role will include managing tax compliance, conducting compilation engagements, and identifying financial and tax-planning opportunities. You will also have access to offshore bookkeeping support, allowing you to concentrate on high-level strategic work. The role offers work-from-home flexibility on Fridays post-onboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of CCPC clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with tax deadlines.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, offering high-level, consultative tax and financial advice.
  • Lead and develop compilation engagements using CaseWare and maintain clean records in QBO.
  • Oversee preparation and filing of tax returns (T2, T1, T3, HST, T5013, T5018) using iFirm.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop tax-saving strategies and prepare detailed tax-planning memos.
  • Identify opportunities for financial planning and advisory services, contributing to the firm's overall growth.

Qualifications:

  • Canadian CPA designation or CFE completion with fulfilled hours.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in public accounting, with a specialization in tax preparation for both corporate and personal clients.
  • Strong knowledge of small CCPC tax requirements and relevant Canadian tax laws.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills for client engagement and internal collaboration.
  • Proficiency with CaseWare, QBO, and iFirm; familiarity with tax audit and review processes is an asset.
  • Completion of in-depth tax courses (MTAX) or significant tax-focused experience is highly desirable.
  • Team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and client service.
