Powerline Technicians and Distribution Journeyman

Valard, a leading utility contractor and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America, is seeking skilled professionals to fill the role of Distribution Journeyman and Apprentice Powerline Technicians.

We are looking for self-motivated, team-oriented individuals who are willing to work as part of a dynamic team that provides crucial support to Valard's projects throughout Saskatchewan, working a 10/4 shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Erect and maintain wood or concrete poles, and guy wires
  • Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers, street lighting and other associated equipment
  • Opens and closes switches and installs grounding devices to lines and equipment.
  • Experience completing high-tension stringing activities is considered an asset
  • Instruct, mentor and train junior personnel and Apprentices in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment in a positive respectful manner
  • All other related duties as assigned by the Foreman or Senior Valard Team member.
  • Have knowledge and expertise in the areas of construction, maintenance, and repair distribution power systems, coupled with the ability to follow instructions and procedures
  • Positive Attitude and good work ethic.

Requirements

  • Red Seal Journeyman Powerline Technician Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years distribution experience
  • Class 1 or 3 driver's license is considered an asset
  • Rubber Glove Training is considered an asset
  • Standard First Aid (CPR/AED) considered an asset
