Trade Compliance Specialist - Global Trade Expert

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the development of international content for our Trade Compliance tools, managing import and export compliance requirements across eCommerce, business to business, and marketplace shipments.

This role requires strong research and technical writing skills, as well as expertise in export and import regulations in Canada, APAC, US, and EU. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience working in trade controls, with a proven track record of implementing and managing trade compliance programs.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to stay up-to-date on trade regulatory changes and updates, and will serve as an expert on Canadian, EU export regulations, product safety compliance laws, and import/customs regulations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Drive organizations' understanding of regulatory and license requirements enacted by governmental agencies to manage cross-border shipment compliance with applicable statutes.
  2. Conduct research on trade compliance regulations with a focus on import and export controls, provide high-quality analysis, research regulations, and summarize/document compliance requirements.
  3. Create expert-level guidance for use in customers' interpretation and adherence to hazmat, carrier, and international trade regulations.
  4. Evaluate and update guidance documents, export controls manuals, and other policy and/or process documents to ensure compliance with current rules and regulations.
  5. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to stay abreast of trade regulatory changes and updates.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum 4-5 years of experience working in trade controls, with an emphasis on export and import regulations in Canada and a strong understanding of APAC, US, and EU regulations.
  2. Strong research and technical writing experience; BA/BS Degree in a relevant field (business, law, international studies, or logistics).
  3. Proven experience implementing and managing trade compliance programs and/or combined experience in Logistics, Tax, and Trade Compliance.
  4. Extensive experience in Canadian export controls systems and government tools, and export/import classification.
