Job Overview:
Parsons is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Construction Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Giant Mine Remediation Project. This is a world-class remediation project utilizing innovative methods to ensure a safe environment. The project is expected to last over 10 years and requires a skilled project manager to oversee the construction process from design phase to project closeout and handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructability inputs to ensure project feasibility and efficiency.
- Responsible for planning, managing, and progressing the work package from completion of design phase through to closeout and handover, ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop and manage internal budgetary estimates and schedules, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Responsible for developing scopes of work and tender packages, including pre-bid meetings, pre-bid tours, and related communication requirements.
- Participate in bid evaluations and contract awarding, ensuring the selection of qualified contractors.
- Responsible for contractor onboarding, document submittals, and approvals to facilitate mobilization and construction execution.
- Oversee the execution of construction activities and contractor performance, ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, daily and weekly reporting, quality of work, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage requests for information processes and flow, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Responsible for managing compliance to the change order process and procedures, ensuring a thorough understanding of scope, specification, contract, and field activities.
- Maintain, track, and report on project deliverables, including schedule, cost, quality of work, safety, and environmental compliance, issues, and resolutions.
- Effectively communicate, lead, and align with construction superintendents, construction inspectors, QA/QC coordinators, finance, procurement, document control, planning, scheduling, and estimators, as well as contractors.
- Assist the Construction Manager in resolving issues arising from variances in cost, schedule, or quality, working with subcontractors to develop and implement corrective actions.
- Assist the Mine Manager, H&S Manager, and Environmental Manager in ensuring HS&E awareness and compliance by all subcontractors.
- Prepare monthly reports on work package progress, including schedule and budget compliance assessments, for delivery to the Construction Manager and Senior Project Manager. May participate in status briefings with the client.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree or technology diploma in Engineering, Geology, or a directly related technical field.
- 12+ years of experience in project management, construction management, specifically in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in the execution phase, and managing project closeout.
- 5+ years of work experience in heavy civil, northern mining, or remediation projects.
- 5+ years of experience working in Northern Canada is an asset.
- Knowledgeable of industry practices and regulations.
- Knowledgeable of current technologies and how they can be effectively utilized on projects.
- Professional designation (or the ability to obtain one) as a professional geologist, engineer, CET; additionally, a PMP designation is preferable.
- Experience managing on-site activities of multiple subcontractors.
- Experience addressing and resolving issues such as poor performance by subcontractors.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate members of a team.
