Sinai Health is a leading health system in Canada, committed to providing exceptional patient care. We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a UroOncology Nursing Specialist.

About the Role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years' experience in urology and oncology patient care. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff and physicians to provide high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include assessing patients' physical and psychosocial needs, developing individualized care plans, and educating patients and their families on disease management and prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient clinics, chart preparation, and nursing duties such as catheterization, catheter care, pre- and post-op surgery teaching, and other duties as directed.
  • Coordinate, deliver, supervise, and evaluate patient care.
  • Systematically assess patients' physical and psychosocial needs.
  • Assume responsibility for health education and counseling of patients.
  • Assist patients and their families in identifying resources that lead to the maximum state of health.
  • Plan, organize, and determine priorities in the giving of patient care.
  • Active involvement in the overall coordination of patient care.
  • Reports and records accurately and appropriately, using electronic charting.
  • Undertakes triage responsibilities, including telephone triage.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates a broad range of patient care activities related to health promotion and chronic disease management.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS.
  • BScN (preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent urology, urologic, and oncology patient nursing experience.
  • Excellent teaching skills experience that incorporates adult learning principles.
  • Flexible with superior organization skills and the ability to work effectively to prioritize multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, make decisions, and take initiative while working with confidential patient information and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Superior work ethic, professionalism, and reliability; excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to effectively convey factual information and detailed explanations.
  • Sound knowledge base in urology, urologic procedures, surgeries, and patient care.
  • Commitment to professional practice and personal development.
  • Commitment to shared leadership and team-based decision making.
  • Commitment to patient and family-centered care.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.

What We Offer

Competitive salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits package includes comprehensive health and dental coverage, retirement savings plan, and generous paid time off.
