Mechanical Engineer

Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people, community, and cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional project results. We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to provide project engineering support for a project in oil and gas.
The successful candidate will be based in Calgary and will lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams in the production of technical deliverables for various projects. This role involves working in the office with occasional site visits.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Providing technical guidance and solving complex issues with minimal supervision.
- Establishing specifications for equipment design and procurement, including rotating, bulk material handling, crushing, conveying, screening, and similar equipment.
- Developing scopes of work and construction work packages.
- Reviewing contractor design documents to ensure consistency with current standards, practices, and procedures.
- Collaborating with other disciplines to coordinate equipment requirements, including process, reliability, instrumentation, electrical, structural, piping, and more.
- Communicating with vendors to clarify scopes and respond to RFIs.
- Participating in design reviews, including model reviews, HAZOPs, SILs, and other relevant activities.
- Supporting the operations team in updating operating procedures and equipment isolation plans.
- Assisting the reliability team in troubleshooting equipment issues.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a P.Eng. designation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated and energetic attitude.
- 5+ years of direct Oil Sands experience, preferably with experience in ore preparation and extraction.
- Field experience is an asset.
- Experience with reliability and asset management is an asset.
- Willingness to travel to the site frequently.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
