Mechanical Engineer

Morrison Hershfield, now part of Stantec, is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Integrated Engineering Design (IED) group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering mechanical systems for institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems.
- Prepare contract documents and work with junior engineers, designers, and modelers to deliver projects.
- Lead small to mid-size teams of engineers, developing clear career development plans and performing regular performance reviews.
- Review and approve AutoCAD and Revit models.
- Provide expert knowledge of heat loss/gain calculation, pipe sizing, sanitary and storm system design, and natural gas pipe calculation.
- Stay up-to-date with building mechanical engineering requirements, including NBC-AE, ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA standards.
- Conduct business development activities to secure new projects through client liaison and proposal preparation.
- Perform duties individually or as a team member.
- Provide thorough understanding of project management, operations, finance, resourcing, and reporting to senior engineers and project managers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and registered P.Eng.
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing mechanical systems for building projects.
- Proven leadership and mentorship skills.
- Project Management knowledge, PMP is a plus.
- Experience coordinating with utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, and applicable codes and standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication in English.
- Detail-oriented, organized, hard worker, and team player.
