Job Title: Certified Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Patient Care Specialist to join our team at MacLeod House Baddeck. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will provide exceptional care and support to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

About the Role

This is a temporary position with a variable schedule, requiring flexibility and adaptability. The successful candidate will work closely with our nursing staff to ensure seamless delivery of patient care services.

Responsibilities
  • Supply and empty bed pans as needed
  • Serve meal trays and feed patients, promoting independence and dignity
  • Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients safely, respecting their individual needs
  • Maintain patient rooms, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment
  • Manage inventory of supplies, maintaining stock levels and ordering as necessary
  • Bathe, dress, and groom patients with kindness and respect
  • Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher, prioritizing their safety and comfort
  • Respond to call signals, addressing patients' needs promptly and efficiently
  • Administer first aid in emergency situations, staying calm and composed under pressure
Requirements
  • Continuing Care Assistant Certification, required
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related field, preferred
  • College, CEGEP, or non-university certificate/diploma from a 1-2 year program
Work Environment

Nursing home/home for the aged setting, fast-paced environment with varying shifts and on-call requirements.

Benefits

As per collective agreement, this role offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • Estimated salary range: $25-$35 per hour (dependent on location and experience)
  • 20-40 hours bi-weekly, with potential for shift or on-call work
  • Temporary work term, with opportunities for extension or conversion
