As a key member of Scotiabank's Asset Management team, you will play a critical role in overseeing the management of all assets under management for Scotiabank's Canadian Asset Management arm, as well as supporting oversight efforts for Scotiabank's international asset management companies.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Provide strategic and tactical direction for the oversight of all investment products offered through 1832 Asset Management and its portfolio advisors, with direct accountability to senior management, Investment Committee, and the Independent Review Committee.
- Manage all sub-advisors relationships, including contract negotiation, service level commitments, fee discrepancy resolutions, and reporting needs.
- Lead a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Commerce, Finance, or Economics.
- 10+ years of experience in the same or similar field, with a strong background in investment oversight and management.
- CFA designation required; CIPM/FRM designation an asset.
- Completion of Canadian Securities Course.
- Previous experience within the Mutual Fund industry and oversight in particular.
- Able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with minimal leadership oversight.
- Experience presenting investment analysis to committees.
