Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing services to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent nursing services, including administration of prescribed medical treatments and leadership roles within the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate coordination of patient care and discharge, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, addressing the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, identify areas for improvement, and implement evidence-based interventions to enhance patient care.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Psychiatric Nursing program or approved Registered Nursing program.
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Recent, related experience in mental health nursing, with a strong understanding of psychiatric nursing principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients, with a focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a mental health setting, with a strong understanding of psychiatric nursing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and the Protection of Persons in Care Act.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
