About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Substation Electrician Apprentice to join our team at The MEARIE Group. As a key member of our electrical maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our substation equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical System Maintenance: Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of substation equipment, including electrical and mechanical testing.
  • Equipment Testing and Maintenance: Perform routine equipment maintenance, including breakers, protection relays, battery chargers, and batteries.
  • Substation Operations: Conduct routine maintenance of main office and substation buildings, and investigate and troubleshoot substation faults and failures.
  • Electrical System Installation: Install, maintain, and repair AC and DC substation service systems, and test and maintain distribution transformers.
  • Record Keeping: Collect scheduled and periodic substation data and maintain detailed substation equipment and maintenance records.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency and on-call situations as required.
  • Technical Support: Recalibrate protective devices, substation SCADA, and System Intelligent Devices and System Network Configuration.
  • Design and Documentation: Review and revise related electrical and mechanical prints, drawings, and diagrams using AutoCAD.
Requirements
  • Education: Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma program from a Community College or equivalent work experience.
  • License: Possess and maintain a valid G Class Ontario Drivers' License with a clean abstract.
