Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Substation Electrician Apprentice to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of substation equipment, as well as performing electrical and mechanical testing on substation equipment as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of substation equipment
- Perform electrical and mechanical testing on substation equipment as needed
- Conduct routine equipment maintenance, including breakers, protection relays, battery chargers, and batteries
- Conduct routine maintenance of main office and substation buildings
- Investigate and troubleshoot substation faults and failures
- Install, maintain, and repair AC and DC substation service systems
- Test and maintain distribution transformers
- Collect scheduled and periodic substation data and maintain detailed substation equipment and maintenance records
- Perform cable testing, cable locating, and fault locating of underground plant
- Assist in emergency and on-call situations as required
- Recalibrate protective devices, substation SCADA, and System Intelligent Devices and System Network Configuration
- Review and revise related electrical and mechanical prints, drawings, and diagrams using AutoCAD
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma program from a Community College or equivalent work experience
- Possess and maintain a valid G Class Ontario Drivers' License with a clean abstract
