About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join our team at Private Household. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our clients, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Care for Pets: Provide care and attention to our clients' pets, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Administer Bedside and Personal Care: Assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Administer Medications: Safely administer medications to clients, as prescribed by their healthcare provider.
  • Assist Clients in Water: Accompany clients to the pool or other water-based activities, providing support and assistance as needed.
  • Assist Clients with Bathing and Personal Hygiene: Help clients maintain their personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, and using the toilet.
  • Assist in Regular Exercise: Engage clients in regular exercise activities, such as walking, to promote physical health and well-being.
  • Change Non-Sterile Dressings: Change non-sterile dressings and bandages as needed, following proper infection control procedures.
  • Feed or Assist in Feeding: Assist clients with feeding, including preparing and serving meals, and helping with eating and drinking.
  • Launder Clothing and Household Linens: Wash, dry, and fold clients' clothing and household linens, ensuring they are clean and hygienic.
  • Mend Clothing and Linens: Repair and mend clients' clothing and household linens, as needed.
  • Perform Light Housekeeping and Cleaning Duties: Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients, including dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning.
  • Plan Therapeutic Diets and Menus: Work with clients and their healthcare providers to develop personalized meal plans, taking into account their dietary needs and preferences.
  • Provide Companionship: Spend quality time with clients, engaging in activities and conversations that promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
  • Provide Personal Care: Assist clients with personal care activities, such as grooming, bathing, and dressing.
  • Prepare and Serve Nutritious Meals: Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious meals to clients, taking into account their dietary needs and preferences.
Requirements
  • Criminal Record Check: A clear criminal record check is required for this position.
  • Basic Security Clearance: A basic security clearance is required for this position.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience: Experience in a related field is an asset.
