Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Director to lead our day-to-day Accounting function in Metro Vancouver. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of 11 staff and ensuring the smooth operation of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and Banking processes.

About the Role

This is a 16-month contract effective February 2025, with the potential for extension. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in financial reporting and treasury management, and a proven ability to drive process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish rapport with Operations stakeholders
  • Streamline day-to-day Accounting processes and manage roles and responsibilities within the team
  • Lead the development of scalable financial processes and controls to support company growth
  • Review and approve outgoing payables
  • Manage difficult conversations with clients and vendors
  • Support month-end close by ensuring key deadlines are met and material accruals are completed
  • Conduct month-end reconciliation reviews for all balance sheet accounts
  • Directly manage a hybrid team of 6 Accounts Payable & Banking staff while coaching and mentoring the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and AR team
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by leading team-building initiatives
  • Act as backup for critical tasks

The salary for this role is estimated at around $110,000 per annum, based on industry standards and the location.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3-years experience in an Accounting Management or Controller role leading AP/AR/Banking and direct supervision of a minimum 5 staff
  • CPA Accounting designation is required
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and treasury management
  • Building and maintaining relationships comes natural to you
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to highlight inefficiencies and drive process improvement that has added bottom-line financial impact
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience having difficult conversations.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to identify and address issues or opportunities
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • You enjoy being part of a team with a mix of face to face and virtual interaction
  • Experience using Applied Epic system and/or ability to quickly learn new management/accounting systems
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in Microsoft Excel with Pivot Tables and other formulas (VLOOKUP, SUMIF)
