Job Summary
The Inclusion Worker is responsible for providing high-quality early learning and care for children, ensuring they have equal access to the benefits of the program. This includes coordinating the provision of developmental services, preparing and assessing activities and programs to meet individual needs, and serving as a liaison between children, parents, and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all children and families.
- Develop and implement individual plans, monitor their implementation, and ensure identified goals are integrated into daily programs and routines.
- Assess children's needs, make modifications to programs as required, and provide resources to assist staff in implementing inclusive practices.
- Utilize reflective practice to assess and improve programs, and create an environment that builds positive self-concept and individual strength.
- Promote positive functioning between children and adults, assist in developing social skills, and encourage feelings of empathy and mutual respect.
- Coordinate centre and home child-rearing practices, maintain open communication with families, and liaise with other professionals involved in the child's care.
- Maintain records of child observations and prepare written reports, and ensure management and staff are informed and updated regarding the centre's inclusion program.
Requirements
- Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Completed or enrolled in the 40-hour program of studies as required by the Province of Manitoba.
- Experience working with children in a related environment is preferred.
- Teamwork skills with well-developed communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with children and parents from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
