Strategic Business Development Lead

Great-West Lifeco, an international financial service holding company, seeks a seasoned professional to drive strategic business development across its life insurance, health insurance, wealth and asset management, and reinsurance businesses. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the financial services industry and have experience in developing and executing corporate-wide strategies.
About the Role- Lead the development of enterprise-wide and business unit strategies by engaging senior leadership and the Lifeco Board to review and refresh our corporate strategy, focusing on macro environment analysis, scenario planning, portfolio review, and strategic option identification.
- Collaborate with global corporate functions and business units to support selected strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with the enterprise-wide vision and strategy, encompassing organic growth strategies, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio optimization, and business capabilities enhancement.
- Deliver results in a collaborative environment, identifying critical questions, generating hypotheses, mapping data requirements, and structuring workstreams and analytics.
- Establish relationships with key executives and senior leaders across Lifeco to support complex and nuanced corporate and business unit strategic agendas.
- Proactively coach team members to improve their capabilities and deliverables, leading by example and actively sharing knowledge and expertise.
- A background in management consulting or corporate strategy at a large financial services organization, preferably with 8+ years of experience, including progressively more senior strategy roles.
- An undergraduate degree in Business, coupled with an MBA, or equivalent preferred (e.g., other comparable professional designations considered).
- Proven business acumen, with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical, and critical thinking.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills within a matrix organization, including the ability to challenge current thinking, share new ideas, and lead productive debate with executive clients.
- Results-oriented project management skills, well-organized, with high attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills, including financial analysis, research, and complex modeling.
- Expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- A proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing team members across the strategy toolkit.
