Job Title: Tile Setter

Penguin Basements Ltd. is seeking a skilled Tile Setter to join our team. As a Tile Setter, you will be responsible for preparing, measuring, and marking surfaces to be covered with tile, mixing and applying adhesives, and setting tiles in place.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare surfaces for tile installation, including measuring and marking walls and floors.
  • Mix and apply adhesives to ensure a strong bond between tiles and surfaces.
  • Set tiles in place, using hand tools and power tools as needed.
  • Align and straighten tiles to ensure a professional finish.
  • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings, using hand and power cutting tools.
  • Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout.
  • Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles.
  • Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
  • Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite.
Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in tile setting.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, handling heavy loads and bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Attention to detail and ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Hand-eye coordination and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Reliability and dependability, with a strong work ethic.
