Job Summary

The YWCA Halifax is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Lead to oversee the Nova Scotia Transition and Advocacy for Youth (NSTAY) program. This program provides critical support services to exploited and trafficked youth, connecting them with the resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Case Management:
    • Establish initial connections with referring agencies, assess eligibility, and match new intakes with peer outreach workers.
    • Coordinate wraparound support, including mental health and addiction counseling, income assistance, education, and employment for NSTAY participants.
    • Work closely with peer outreach to establish programs, achieve program goals, and maintain high-quality service delivery standards.
    • Provide regular program reports as requested by the manager.
    • Convene and participate in collaborative case tables with partners and other service providers.
  • NSTAY Staff Clinical Support:
    • Provide weekly peer support meetings with peer outreach workers.
    • Debrief professional practice with the staff team.
    • Offer emergency and on-call assistance as needed.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date participants' case notes and care plans in accordance with YWCA policies and procedures.
  • Community Outreach:
    • Support the administration of the Transition and Exploitation Service System (TESS).
    • Oversee the Family and Community Outreach Program.
    • Collaborate with the advocacy team to deliver training on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Youth (CSEC).
    • Service provider/user navigation for NSTAY participants and TESS partnership network.
    • Develop and deliver public presentations and workshops in collaboration with NSTAY outreach workers.
    • Act as a conduit between NSTAY and TESS to identify and report systemic trends in the program to the Manager of Research and Advocacy.
  • Other Duties:
    • Represent the YWCA Halifax in community and sector task forces and committees as appropriate.
    • Participate in YWCA and community-based advocacy activities that align with YWCA policies.
    • Ensure the maintenance of all files, information systems, and databases related to areas of responsibility.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for personal and professional development.
    • Perform other duties as delegated by the Manager, Director, and/or Executive Director.
    Requirements
    • Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
    • Outstanding leadership and demonstrated effectiveness in communication.
    • Strong clinical support skills, high level of computer literacy, and advocacy skills.
    • Experience working with diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
    • Knowledge of community-based, trauma-informed, and harm reduction practices.
    • Understanding of program support and evaluation in an outcomes-based framework.
    • Availability for emergency and on-call duties.
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in an unpredictable environment.
    • Current Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record checks with a Vulnerable Sector check upon hiring.
