Senior Machine Learning Engineer: Transforming Healthcare through Personalization

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead the development of a cutting-edge personalization service for the healthcare industry. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the entire ML engineering lifecycle, including literature reviews, architecture design, implementation, and launch of the service. Additionally, they will maintain the integrity of our ML Ops and ensure good data hygiene throughout the process.
The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining the ongoing maintainability, reliability, and trustworthiness of the entire system. They should have significant machine learning experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. The selected person will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, designers, and user researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate daily in an agile environment with engineers from other teams, product managers, designers, and user research to recommend solutions, define timelines, and solve customer problems.
- Develop a demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than found.
- Ensure code is covered by unit and integration tests, and continually improve testability of products.
- Configure CI/CD systems to automatically build and deploy solutions to cloud-native infrastructure such as Kubernetes.
- Ramp up on new techniques and best practices for platform development, and advocate improvements with the team.
- Mentor junior developers through code and design reviews.
- Build software with a proactive operations mindset to simplify alerting and debugging of customer issues using tools like Splunk. Participate in an on-call support rotation.
- Design, develop, and deploy distributed systems and components.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives to improve developer productivity and quality.
- Pilot new initiatives to keep technology stack ahead of the curve and learn from past experiences to have a strong opinion on recommended practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience.
- 8 years experience building services at web scale.
- 4 years experience with dependency injection and other core features including design of RESTful microservices and cloud hosting.
- 4 years experience having operational ownership of production services, including working with DevOps and/or SRE teams.
- 2 years sound understanding of performance testing, tuning, and analysis experience in SOA systems.
- 2 years experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience.
- History of turning state-of-the-art ML research into production systems.
- Experience with research and/or productionalization of personalization and/or recommender systems.
- Entrepreneurial – have a great enjoyment of building new systems from scratch and solving customer needs.
- Intense curiosity driving you to continuously learn and grow.
Estimated Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
