Job Summary


We are seeking a Group Therapist/Suicide Intervention Counsellor with a Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or Counselling Psychology to join our team at the Joseph & Rosalie Segal Family Health Centre in Vancouver, BC.


Main Responsibilities



  • Provide group therapy and psycho-education according to various theoretical models based on target groups.
  • Review referrals to group therapy using interviews and questionnaires to ensure suitability for treatment.
  • Implement client outcome measures and group therapy evaluations to assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect for clients by seeking an understanding of their perspective, learning needs, and readiness to learn.
  • Provide crisis intervention, suicide bereavement counselling, and therapy to individuals in suicidal crisis, those who have attempted suicide, loved ones concerned about a suicidal person, and those bereaved by a suicide death.
  • Initiate contact with clients at risk of suicide or who have attempted suicide.
  • Provide treatment services and education to families of suicide victims and facilitate access to therapy services and input into care plans.
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other healthcare professionals/providers to achieve excellence in health services and education.

Qualifications



  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or Counselling Psychology.
  • Three (3) years recent related clinical experience providing group or individual psychotherapy to clients with various mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, concurrent disorders, suicidality, bereavement by suicide, and suicide prevention.
  • Registration with the applicable College/governing body as required.
