**Associate Counsellor (contract)**
Emotion Wise Counselling is a growing practice looking to hire skilled and experienced hybrid (in-person/virtual) counsellors to offer in-person and virtual services in downtown Vancouver, BC.
We are a counselling practice that specializes in working with people with complex trauma and emotion regulation issues, as well as anxiety, and depression. We specialize in providing research-based therapies for complex PTSD including DBT and EMDR. We strive to offer culturally aware counselling with a lens of justice and equity.
Who you are:
- Passionate and experienced in working with people with Complex Trauma and Emotion Regulation issues
- Trained in therapies supported by research that help people with PTSD and complex PTSD and emotion regulation including EMDR and DBT
- Understand the effect of colonialism and impact of Residential schools on Indigenous peoples and on the fabric of Canadian society,
- Awareness of issues of social inequity, including racism, poverty, gender and sexuality and value integrating social justice into counselling work
- Skilled at building relationships and have strong empathy balanced with clinical therapeutic skills to focus on identified problems
- Are a team player, enjoys collaboration and innovation while confident and independent as a therapist who seeks ongoing education and supervision.

**You must also**:
- Have a Master’s degree in counselling, social work, or a related discipline and 2 years of experience
- Required**:*Trained in DBT and/or EMDR**:
- Familiar with the principles of DBT, trained in DBT and experienced in providing DBT therapy.
- Experienced in providing trauma therapy and ideally trained in EMDR therapy or anther evidence-based Trauma Therapy (IFS, CPT, etc.)
- Experience and keen interest in working with clients with substance use, complex trauma, bipolar and BPD.
- Be a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) or Registered Social Worker (RSW or RCSW) or Registered Psychologist (RPsych)
- Hold current and sufficient professional liability insurance in British Columbia.
- Demonstrated clinical experience working with culturally diverse clients with complex trauma and emotion regulation issues
- Experience working with Indigenous people (ideally registered or eligible for registration with FNHA)
- Experience working with LGBTQS+ clients
- Registered with ICBC, CVAP, and/or willingness to register
- Be willing to provide both in-person (minimum 5 hours per week in-person Vancouver) and virtual services (this is NOT an virtual position only)
- Must be available for minimum 10 client hours per week, ideally increasing to 15-20 hours
- Abide by your registered body’s (eg. BCCSW) standards and practice and ethics and seek outside supervision for your practice.
**Additional desired qualities**:
- experience in facilitating DBT therapy groups
- ability to work evenings/weekends
- experience working with youth, couples
- trained in ERP for OCD therapy
- experience working with Eating disorders
- registered in multiple provinces in Canada for virtual therapy

Pay: $90.00-$105.00 per hour
