About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Aviation Planning Specialist to join our team in Canada. As an Aviation Planning Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing airport master plans, conducting capacity and demand assessments, and providing technical expertise to clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement airport master plans, including conducting capacity and demand assessments and providing technical expertise to clients.
- Conduct passenger and baggage flow simulation modeling, interpret results, and identify solutions.
- Develop spatial requirements and program development for infrastructure and facilities planning.
- Provide CAD and graphic support, with a focus on terminal planning, but also involving other aspects of airport planning such as airside and landside planning.
- Develop standard drawings and details.
- Assist with the development and review of forecast demand.
- Collect and collate data from surveys, benchmark studies, and other sources as needed in support of planning studies.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and deliverables, including illustrations, tables, and drawings, to communicate complex technical ideas through a graphical and visual approach for a wide range of clients.
- Generate and contribute to planning and operational reports and provide advice to planning and design teams, airports, and airline clients.
- Project work includes many of the most significant complex airport developments globally.
- Analyze and support the summarization of policy and standard documents and background studies.
- Research and analyze trends and best practices related to airport planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree and professional license beneficial in Transport Planning, Architecture, or related field.
- 2+ years' progressively responsible experience in aviation planning, transport planning, or related field, reflecting a professional awareness of today's aviation industry, as well as the planning, design, construction, financing, operation, and regulation of airports.
- Knowledge/experience of analytical techniques and tools, including spreadsheet, database, and simulation modeling.
- Experience and proficiency of CAD platforms (Autocad/MicroStation), Microsoft Office applications (Word and PowerPoint), and Excel.
- Demonstrated strong numeric analytical competence and strategic thinking capability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills essential for team-based working.
- The ability to work with high-level architectural and master planning concepts.
- Excellent planning and organization skills and attention to detail for our fast-paced environment.
- Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
- Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
Software Skills
Intermediate or advanced capabilities in the use of industry-standard software, for example:
- CAD / GIS platforms, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or Revit.
- Graphics and presentation software packages, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Qualifications
- A commitment to technical accuracy and quality work.
- Good interpersonal skills crucial for team-based working, often in distributed offices.
- Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
- Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
- Demonstrated skills in client management, stakeholder engagement, and subject matter expertise.
