Aviation Ground Handling Specialist

Menzies Aviation is seeking a dedicated individual to ensure smooth operations on the tarmac. As an Aviation Ground Handling Specialist, you will be responsible for leading a team, unloading and loading of luggage, freight and cargo on and off commercial aircraft. You will also drive and operate specialized equipment and commercial vehicles.

Main Accountabilities:

The Aviation Ground Handling Specialist's accountabilities include:

  • Leading a team of ground handling agents
  • Unloading and loading of luggage, freight and cargo on and off commercial aircraft
  • Driving and operating specialized equipment and commercial vehicles

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between aircraft, airport terminals, air cargo facilities, and other aircraft
  • Operate motorized equipment
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
  • Oversee a crew of 3-5 agents
  • Briefs crew before flights on bag loads, positions to take and how flight will work
  • Responsible for safe push back and communications with the flight crew during push back
  • Responsible for all flight crew/gate crew paperwork before and after departure
  • Oversee all operations at their gate/flight
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada
  • Must have high school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record; must be able to pass DA training
  • Must be able to hold and maintain all required airport security clearance
  • Reliability, our customer and your fellow employees rely on you
  • Capable of lifting comfortably 70 lbs
  • Prior ramp experience a plus
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions, work is primarily outdoors
