As an Electrical and Controls Engineer with Laporte, you will join an integrated project team under the supervision of a Lead Electrical Engineer. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical Engineering design: Develop innovative emergency backup systems, including ATS, generators, and UPS; design fire alarm systems; and implement lighting and lighting control solutions.
  • Power system engineering: Conduct detailed engineering studies, such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and coordination.
  • Load control engineering: Manage motor control centers, process control and control system engineering (optional), including P&ID and control narrative, instrumentation, IO lists, process control panels, and process control networks.

The role also involves project engineering, including project management, AutoCAD/Revit drafting, engineering field reviews, construction, startup, and commissioning support.

We require:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Current registration with the Alberta provincial engineering association;
  • Experience in consulting engineering, particularly in agrifood and food and beverage industries;
  • Familiarity with control system platforms, such as Rockwell Automation, DeltaV, and Siemens;
  • Strong knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, as well as design criteria;
  • Excellent technical skills and computer proficiency;
  • A strong understanding of local, Provincial (AB), and National regulations and standards related to electrical installations.
