About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to achieve their goals and live independently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing personalized support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Assisting with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
- Accompanying individuals on community outings, including volunteering, employment, and leisure activities
- Maintaining accurate records of daily activities and goal progression
Available Positions
We have two permanent full-time positions available, each working 30 hours per week. The shifts for Position #1 are Monday to Friday, with potential for evenings and weekends. Position #2 also works Monday to Friday, with potential for evenings and weekends.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting others and have a strong understanding of the person-centered and active support approach. To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Ability to maneuver a wheelchair
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
- Clean driver's abstract
- Comfortable navigating the transit system
- Comfortable supporting individuals in a pool and gym setting
- Comfortable with personal care
Assets
- Class 5 driver's license
- Prior paid or volunteer experience
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Knowledge of Mandt System
- Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports
- Comfortable standing/walking for long periods of time
