About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalized support and engaging our supported individuals in their communities, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations. Your duties will include:
- Providing individualized support to help our supported individuals achieve their life goals
- Assisting with daily living tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
- Accompanying our supported individuals on community outings, including volunteering, employment, and leisure activities
- Maintaining accurate records of daily activities and goal progression
Available Positions
We have two permanent full-time positions available, each working 30 hours per week. The successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday, with potential for evening and weekend shifts.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting others and have a strong understanding of the Person-Centered and active support approach. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following requirements:
- Ability to maneuver a wheelchair
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
- Clean driver's abstract
- Comfortable navigating the transit system
- Comfortable supporting individuals in a pool and gym setting
- Comfortable with personal care
Assets
- Class 5 driver's license
- Prior paid or volunteer experience
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Knowledge of Mandt System
- Knowledge of Person-Centered Active Supports
- Comfortable standing/walking for long periods of time
