Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our medicine unit at Delta Hospital. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide direct patient care, assess patients, and develop individualized care plans.

">

Your responsibilities will include:

">
  • ">
  • Assessing patients and collecting information using observation, communication, and data review">
  • Making nursing diagnoses and determining whether conditions can be improved or resolved through nursing interventions">
  • Planning, performing, and evaluating nursing interventions and care">
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and caregivers in developing care plans and promoting person-centered care">
  • Participating in care and discharge planning processes, including updating care plans and intervening as necessary">
  • Coordinating nursing care, prioritizing tasks, assigning and delegating duties to support staff, and making referrals according to established protocols">
  • Collaborating with the interprofessional care team to ensure comprehensive care planning and delivery">
  • Teaching patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to help them accomplish their healthcare goals">
  • Documenting assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient responses, outcomes, and referrals according to practice standards and procedures">
  • Participating in research and quality improvement activities, identifying patient care issues, collecting data, and recommending corrective actions and changes to practices, procedures, or protocols">

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • ">
  • A diploma in nursing from an approved school of nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives">
  • The ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions">
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients, families, caregivers, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team">
  • The ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy, sensitivity to diverse cultures, and patient advocacy">
  • The ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively">
  • The ability to teach and instruct patients and families about topics essential to their health care and well-being">
  • The ability to organize and prioritize work">
  • The ability to collaborate with and promote cooperation among members of the interprofessional care team">
  • The ability to use factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support nursing decisions and actions">
  • The physical ability to perform the duties of the position">
